Apron, Hoe and internet: the kids learn to grow!

Schools, Web 2.0, and vegetable gardens. This is the mix that allowed Slow Food Italy and Grow the Planet to become friends. A friendship that has also been possible thanks to common goals: healthy food, gardening,  educational projects. 
“Orto in Condotta” is one of these projects: a Slow Food Italy that already involved 400+ learning communities and aims to be a powerful didactic instrument to get kids in touch with land, its products and recipes. Slow Food has since organized trainings for teachers, activites for students and workshops for parents and grandparents - planning a vegetable garden for each community.

This is where Grow the Planet steps into the project - the platform has been upgraded and enhanced to support schools and kids, offering its trademark  know how wikis and step by step tutorials.
Grow The Planet will thus be employed by 425 learning communities that will transport their hands-on experience on the digital world and enhance it with social networking, making it even more fun.

Just like any Grow The Planet users, schools will be able to ideas and suggestions, swap vegetables and more. Valeria Cornetti, Slow Food Italy director of educational projects, states “this is a great opportunity to be a part of a wide international community of garden lovers”.
Teachers, schoolboys and families will now be a part of a project that will further develop in the near future.

Collaborating on “Orto in condotta” has thrilled both Slow Food Italy and Grow The Planet: expect their friendship to get stronger and closer over time.
