A vegetable garden on the seashore and a vegetable gardener on the beach
Now it is official: vegetable gardening is all the rage, and to prove it, just a few metres from the seashore, vegetables are beginning to be cultivated on organised beaches. The idea of Giorgio Bolla, owner of the Bagni Mafalda Royal beach facilities in Varazze, province of Savona, has not gone unnoticed…
Thanks to the ideal temperature and the sun that warms the Ligurian coast, Mr. Bolla has found “fertile ground” for his vegetable garden and now he can give his clients some tasty produce.
The seashore vegetable garden constantly produces tomatoes, zucchini, wild strawberries, aromatic herbs, various kinds of salad leaves and also the Chinotto di Savona (a bitter orange), to give a “local” touch.
The garden can also be visited by those who are not clients of the Bagno Mafalda Royal and above all by children, as it has now become, amongst other things, an educational tool that teaches the younger generations to recognise products of the earth, close up, far from the shelves of the supermarket.
As far as his beach facility clients go, Giorgio Bolla makes vegetables and especially aromatic herbs available to them daily: everyone can take home something free of charge.
A vegetable gardener on the beach, who’d have thought it possible?
